We are so excited to introduce Sarah Petersdorf, who will be joining our school community as our new first grade teacher! Miss Petersdorf brings great energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for helping young students.
✏️Here’s a note from Miss Petersdorf:
Hi! My name is Sarah Petersdorf. I’m so excited to be apart of the Hearn Academy family! A little bit about me: I was born and raised here in Arizona. I I have always wanted to be a teacher and before I became a teacher I was a nanny for many years. I did my student teaching in First Grade and graduated from Northern Arizona University with my bachelors in Elementary Education. This will be my second year teaching first grade and I am so excited!
As we celebrate this new beginning, we also want to take a moment to share that Ms. Kranz has made the bittersweet decision to step away from teaching. She will be deeply missed by students, staff, and families alike, but we are incredibly grateful for the impact she has made. We wish her all the best in this next exciting chapter of her journey.

🦎☀️ This year our first graders had an amazing day at the Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary! They learned all about reptiles, met some scaly new friends, and discovered how important these creatures are to our world.

🔢☀️Our 2nd graders have been hard at work sharpening their math skills during summer school!
🎨✂️ Kinder-Prep campers had a blast getting creative with crafts!
🌊🐙 3rd grade has been diving into ocean week during summer school! They have been learning about ocean life and pollution, writing multi-paragraph essays, and sharpening their multiplication and division skills. But the highlight? These beautiful jellyfish crafts!
🎨☀️Husky Summer Camp is in full swing! The kids are having a blast with crafts, games, and nonstop fun all day long!
🎨🐴 4th Grade Knight Artists! Our fourth graders created stunning artwork of knights on horseback, bringing history and imagination to life! Huge shoutout to our amazing art teacher, Mrs. McDermott!
🧘♀️✨ Yoga Club fun with Ms. Chacon — each year our students find balance, build strength, and embrace calm together!
🦊🎨 Our youngest kids at Husky Summer Camp got creative with adorable animal paper plates!
💦🧽 3rd grade year end water day fun!
🧼😁 Our 1st graders had a blast cleaning their desks with shaving cream! Who knew scrubbing could be this much fun?
📚🎭 What a fun and mysterious time at our Masked Reader Assembly! Students loved guessing which masked staff member was behind each story.

💦☀️ Splish, splash, and smiles all around! Kinder-Prep and Kindergarten Water Day was a blast! What a perfect way to celebrate the end of the school year!

Our front office is closed today in observance of the holiday. We’ll resume our summer hours tomorrow.
