Dear Hearn Academy Families,

I am excited to be joining Hearn Academy this year as your new Principal. I have been in education for 35 years.  My career began as a middle school/high school teacher in California and Iowa. I began working in school administration in 2000 when I moved to Phoenix. This will be my twentieth year as an elementary principal.  I have worked in traditional school districts, charter schools, and for the past eight years on the White Mountain Apache Reservation. I hold Bachelor of Arts degrees in both English and Communications from the University of Iowa and completed my master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Iowa. My wife and I decided to move back to Phoenix after the birth of our first child, a daughter, in March 2025.

I am proud to have been selected as Hearn Academy’s next principal. I am aware of Hearn Academy’s strong reputation for high academic achievement, qualified staff, and its dedication to serving the needs of all the students. I am committed to serving all the students and their families to continue the best education possible in a positive and supportive school.
