April 27, 2020

I hope you had a good weekend.  We will be working on Topic 16 which is about lines, angles and geometric figures.  I'd like to take a different approach to our Zoom classes.  We will still go over the work, but I'd like to see how we use these things in everyday life.

I have added an activity, that you can click on called Math quilts.  This activity could give my students some ideas how they can use geometric figures to create something, like a quilt, but it could also be something that triggers their imagination to make a drawing, etc.  This is NOT a required assignment.  Just something that we can do to try to include the real world with what we are learning.

April 24, 2020

Today we will be beginning Topic 16, and it is  geometric shapes...so the challenge will be how could you use geometric shapes to create art?  Try it and see what you can come up with!  There is no 12:30 tutoring today.  We will start back on Monday when we are back into topic lessons.

There is also an extra credit activity on page 815 of your book.  You can write the information on Moby Max in the Writing Assingments section.  The assignment is called Senses and Symmetry.

Important message regarding Family Link and grade status for 4th grade:

Hello from 4th grade! (Mr. Knoblauch, Ms. Hooker, Ms. Webert)

The three of us want to follow up regarding the school wide communication that was send out yesterday.

It stated in the email and telephone call that “Some packets are still being graded.”

Please note that all 4th grade packets (#1) have not been graded, so you will NOT see a grade for your child in Family Link at this time.

As soon as we have the results from packet #1, we will update Family Link and follow up with an email to you stating that your child’s grades are ready to view. If you need the login information we will be happy to provide it to you at that time.

Once again we thank you for your patience and understanding during these challenging times.

Hope everyone is well!

Sincerely,

Dear 4th Grade Parents and Students,

The past few weeks have been a challenge for everyone. We are doing our very best to fulfill the requirements for the final quarter of the 2019-20 school year. We are attempting to alleviate some of the stress involved with sharing technology in your homes while maintaining consistency for all students. Therefore, 4th grade is adopting the paper copy packet for ALL students.

What this means:

Ø  The first packet (which was distributed prior to the break) is to be returned to the school on Wednesday, April 15th between 6am-9am. (Ms. Hooker, Ms. Webert and Mr. Knoblauch will tell you exactly what needs to be turned in for each of our subjects.)

Ø  When you drop off packet #1, you will pick up packet #2 and #3. Both of these completed packets will be returned to the school on Wednesday, May 6th between 6am-9am.

The three of us will continue to provide online support and enrichment through Zoom at our scheduled times.  As directed by the school, “Zoom classes are supplementary in nature and will be viewed as extra credit for the class.” We encourage you to attend as often as possible. We miss our students. J

Supporting our students and your families,

Mr. Knoblauch, Ms. Hooker, Ms. Webert
